Cheesecake Factory Gluten-Free: What the Allergen Data Actually Says

There's no printed gluten-free menu, but there is allergen data for every dish. It turns up gluten-free steaks, a gluten-free chocolate cheesecake, and a 'light' salmon that isn't gluten-free at all.

Short answer

The Cheesecake Factory doesn't print a gluten-free menu. It publishes allergens dish by dish, and 74 dishes list neither gluten nor wheat, three cheesecake slices among them. That's a statement about recipes. The kitchen isn't gluten-free, so anyone with coeliac disease should treat every one of those dishes as a starting point until a manager confirms how it's cooked.

Two kinds of people search this. Some avoid gluten by choice or for a mild intolerance and want a list, which the allergen filter builds in seconds. Others have coeliac disease, where a few crumbs matter and a list is the wrong tool on its own. I've kept those two answers apart.

Where the gluten-free dishes sit on the menu

Steaks are the easy win: all five list milk as their only allergen. Pasta is the hard one, since nearly everything in it is built on wheat.

The surprises in the allergen data

Guessing from a dish's name gets several of these wrong, which is the best argument for checking the data before you order.

If you have coeliac disease

Order from the dishes above, then do the parts a list can't do for you.

  1. Say it at the host stand, before you're seated.
  2. Ask for a manager. Servers pass messages on; managers change what the kitchen does.
  3. Use the word coeliac. It tells the kitchen this is medical, not a preference.
  4. Skip anything fried unless the manager confirms the oil isn't shared with breaded food.
  5. Ask for a clean pan and clean utensils.
  6. If you want cheesecake, ask for a slice of one of the gluten-free-by-recipe cakes cut with a clean knife.

Where hidden gluten comes from

  • Soy sauce. Traditionally brewed soy sauce contains wheat, which is why the Orange Chicken and the Chicken Katsu Bowl both list it.
  • Breading and crusts, parmesan crusts included.
  • Croutons and crispy tortilla strips on salads.
  • The bread basket, which arrives before you order. Ask for it not to be brought.
  • Shared fryer oil, which no allergen list can capture.

Can you get gluten-free cheesecake?

Yes, by recipe. Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake, Low-Licious Cheesecake, Low-Licious Cheesecake with Strawberries list neither gluten nor wheat. The Low-Licious ones make sense, since the menu sells them as low carb and gluten free. The Godiva is the one I didn't expect: a rich chocolate slice with no wheat anywhere in its allergen data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does The Cheesecake Factory have a gluten-free menu?
Not a printed one. It publishes allergens dish by dish, and 74 dishes list neither gluten nor wheat. There's no separate menu to ask your server for.
Is The Cheesecake Factory safe for coeliac disease?
It isn't a dedicated gluten-free kitchen. Fryers, grills and prep surfaces are shared, so a dish with no gluten in its recipe can still pick some up. Tell a manager you have coeliac disease before you order.
Is any Cheesecake Factory cheesecake gluten-free?
Yes, by recipe. Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake, Low-Licious Cheesecake, Low-Licious Cheesecake with Strawberries list neither gluten nor wheat, and the menu describes the Low-Licious with Strawberries as gluten free. They come out of the same bakery case as every wheat-crust slice, so they're gluten-free by ingredients, not by handling.
Are the French Fries gluten-free?
No allergen is listed for them at all. That listing describes the recipe, though, not the fryer. Ask whether fries share oil with breaded items before you rely on them.
What's the safest main course to order?
The steaks. All five list milk as their only allergen, sauces and sides included as served. Grilled Salmon and the Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas are the other straightforward choices.
