Online from the restaurant's own site for a physical or e-gift card, or over the counter at any restaurant. E-gift cards arrive by email and can be scheduled.

Check balance →Accepted at company-operated restaurants and on the restaurant's own ordering site. Third-party delivery apps run separate payment systems and generally will not take it.

Restaurant gift cards sold in the United States sit under the Credit CARD Act of 2009. The headline protections: funds cannot expire sooner than five years from the date of purchase or the last reload, and an inactivity fee cannot be charged in the first twelve months of no use and even then only if the terms disclose it.
Several states go further than the federal floor, and a few effectively ban expiry on retail gift cards altogether. Which rules apply depends on where the card was bought.

Avoiding gift card scams
- Nobody legitimate demands payment in gift cards. Not the tax office, not a utility, not tech support, not a company you owe money to. A request to settle a debt in restaurant gift cards is always a scam.
- Buy from the issuer where you can. Resale marketplaces sell real cards and drained ones alike, and a drained card is difficult to dispute after the fact.
- Check the packaging in-store. A card whose PIN panel has been scratched and re-covered has usually been recorded by someone else.
- Keep the receipt. It is the only thing that makes a lost or stolen card replaceable.

- How do I check my gift card balance?
- Through the restaurant's own gift card page, which asks for the card number and the PIN or security code printed on the back. A server can also check the balance for you at the restaurant. This site cannot look up a balance we hold no card data of any kind.
- Do Cheesecake Factory gift cards expire?
- Under the US CARD Act of 2009, funds on a retail gift card cannot expire for at least five years from the date of purchase or the date money was last loaded, and dormancy fees are tightly restricted. State law sometimes goes further. The card's own terms are the authority for any specific card.
- Can I use a gift card at any location?
- Gift cards are issued by the chain rather than by an individual restaurant, so they are normally accepted at any company-operated location. Airport, casino and licensed international locations sometimes operate under a separate agreement if you are near one, ask before ordering.
- Can I use a gift card for delivery or online orders?

- What if my gift card is lost or stolen?
- Contact the restaurant's guest services with your purchase receipt and the card number. Replacement policy is set by the issuer and generally depends on being able to identify the card which is why keeping the receipt matters.
